A Plague Tale: Innocence Review

Ok everybody, tuck your pants into your socks!

A Plague Tale: Innocence is one of the more unique games released over the last decade in the video games space. Taking place in 1348 France, the story follows teenager Amicia and her younger brother Hugo as they try to escape from the French Inquisition and the black plague.

But what makes A Plague Tale truly different are the carriers of the plague and that’s the rats. Developer Asobo Studios really put a lot of effort in to this technology having up to thosands of rats on screen at once.

At it’s core A Plague Tale is a stealth game. You control Amicia and her brother Hugo is always close by holding her hand. Normally this would sound like a game thats nothing more than one, big long escort mission but it works. You spend most of your time sneaking past guards or using fire to traverse through rats – some interesting puzzles are also present!

Pros:

  • Interesting characters
  • Great graphics
  • Good concept with the rats and use of fire.

Cons:

  • Short-ish game. 17 Chapters that will take you around 12 hours to complete. It will leave you wanting more.
